Founded in 1964 Ryedale Travel is entirely independent of the large travel conglomerates. From humble beginnings in a converted fish shop on the edge of the North York Moors the company has grown to become one of the UK’s leading independent travel agents.
In 1981 we were one of the very first travel agents to computerise our accounting and administration systems and today our 31 staff have access to the very latest travel technology. In 1982 we joined the newly created National Association of Independent Travel Agents - later to become the hugely influential Advantage National Network of Travel Agents A few years later we became founder members of the AiTO (Association of Independent Tour Operators) 100 Club.
In 1997 we were a winner in the inaugral ‘Travel Agents of the Year Awards’ and have appeared as a finalist every year but one since that date winning again in 2001 and 2006.
Our business has grown predominantly by personal recommendation. Over the years we have organised everything from the Rolls Royce Owners Club Tour of Italy to an overland trek through the African bush. As an AiTO Specialist Travel Agents we have access to a wide range of specialist holiday products, many of which are not generally available on the High Street. In fact one of our key suppliers only deals with 15 travel agents in the whole of the UK.
